What are Smart Lien's prices?
Prices depend on four things: The amount of liens you process per month, whether you are an automotive industry/towing company, if you are a business owner/storage facility and finally on the value of the vehicle/vessel. Smart Liens has 4 Price Tiers to suit all businesses. Contact us for a quote.
What are the 4 Price Tiers?
Tier 1 - Towing Companies who process a minimum of 10 liens or more a month. Tier 2 - Towing Companies/Dismantlers/Auto Industry who consistently process a minimum of 5 liens per month. Tier 3 - Auto Industry who processes liens occasionally. Tier 4 - Business Owners/Storage facilities.
When should I consider creating an account?
Consider creating an account if you process 10 liens a month or more. Having an account gives you exclusive access to your very own Smart Liens Dashboard, where you’ll have access to online user-friendly lien forms and much more at no extra cost.
Is creating an account free?
Yes, creating an account is totally free.

Do I need to be licensed to create an account?
Yes. You or your company must have an active business license to be able to process liens from a Smart Liens Member account.
Do I need a BAR license to process liens?
You do not. Any business can process a lien sale by charging storage fees only. Repair fees cannot be charged without a BAR license.
I submitted a lien from the Submit Lien Page, what happens next?
Smart Liens will contact you during business hours for payment and to discuss how you would like your lien packet sent to you. We can answer any other questions you might have regarding your lien at that time.
How long do liens take to process?
Liens on vehicles/vessels valued under $4,000 take approximately 35-45 days to process. Vehicles/vessels over $4,000 take approximately 91-150 days to process.
Can I process a lien for an out of state vessel/vehicle with Smart Liens?
The vehicle/vessel can be from another state. However, it must currently be stored in the state of California.
Can I process a lien on a vehicle I lost title/registration for?
If you have personal interest in the vehicle/vessel you may not. If you need to recover lost title, you will have to contact the DMV.
Where is Smart Liens located?
Our office is based out of Bakersfield, CA. We are licensed to operate throughout the entire state of California. We offer secure mail out services and local deliveries.
